New York Fashion Week Spring 2027 Beauty Trends
New York Fashion Week for Spring/Summer 2027 has set the season's beauty direction, with trends including retro glamour, blonzed glows, and undone hair.

New York Fashion Week for the Spring/Summer 2027 collections has unveiled the defining beauty trends for the coming season. Hairstylist Mustafa Yanaz, backstage at the DVF show, stated that New York is where trends are born, citing inspiration from the city's 1970s and 1980s Studio 54 era.
The New Retro
Retro glamour received a modern update across several shows. At DVF, hairstylist Mustafa Yanaz created cloud-like spirals and hot-roller waves, inspired by a '70s and '80s party girl. He used a trio of Bumble and bumble products: Thickening High Drama styling foam, Thickening Spray, and Spray de Mode hairspray. Makeup artist Emi Kaneko paired the looks with glossy red lips and peacock blue eyes, using Estée Lauder's Advanced Night Repair Recovery Treatment Essence and Double Wear foundation.
At Conner Ives, hairstylist Claire Grech cited Kevin Murphy Body.Builder mousse and Anti.Gravity.Spray as key for big blowouts and mega curls. Makeup artist Aaron DeMay referenced '70s and '80s icons like Annie Lennox with smoky eyes and deep burgundy lips from MAC's MACximal Silky Matte Lipstick in Diva.
Blonzed Glows and Undone Romance
The 'blonzed' effect, a blend of blush and bronzer, was widely seen. Makeup artist Fara Homidi used her Fara Homidi Beauty Essential Blonzer compacts at Eckhaus Latta to create weathered complexions. At Kallmeyer, Shain Kish used Saie Dew Blush in Flirty and Spicy. Bobby Wang achieved a sun-kissed look at Son Jung Wan with Bobbi Brown's Skin Enhancer products.
Hair embraced an intentionally undone quality. At Cult Gaia, Karim Belghiran crafted an 'infinite knot' using TRESemmé's A-List Collection dry texturizing spray. Mara Roszak created a sculpted but easy French twist at Kallmeyer using RŌZ products. Cyndia Harvey used L'Oréal Professionnel products for a wet-look finish at Proenza Schouler. Guido Palau perfected messy, teased half-up bouffants for Khaite.
Sheer Glow and Contrasting Texture
Sheerness emerged as a key nail and eye trend. At DVF, nail artist Miss Pop introduced 'Sunglass Nails' using Gel by Essie in shades like Baby Carats and Liquid Sunrise. She described it as highlighter for nails. At Ulla Johnson, makeup artist Romy Soleimani used Sisley-Paris's Phyto-Twist Topcoat and Le Phyto Gloss for a glass-like eye finish.
Crimped hair made a major comeback with contrasting textures. At Christian Siriano, Lacy Redway used TRESemmé's A-List Collection Lacquer Shine Spray on crimped styles. Justine Marjan created a 'mermaid messy knot' at Christian Cowan. At Anna Sui, hairstylist Garren blended a knot with '70s waves using a crimping iron and R+Co BLEU's Cult Classic Flexible Hairspray.
Maximalist Eyes
Eyes were a focal point for high impact. At Kim Shui, MAC's Romero Jennings applied stacks of dramatic false lashes and lined eyes with Kajal Excess Smoky eyeliner. For a more artful look at Altuzarra, Hannah Murray used Bobbi Brown's Smokey Eyes Mascara to create clumped fringe. Backstage at Michael Kors, Dick Page applied glossy splashes of lemon yellow and emerald green eyeshadow for an art house vibe.
