French fragrance and flavor group Mane has acquired Cvista, a U.S. producer of citrus essential oil fractions and natural essences. The deal strengthens Mane's position in natural raw materials and provides enhanced access to advanced fractionation technologies.

Founded in 2010 by Hadi Lashkajani, Cvista is based in Riverview, Florida, and serves around 130 customers globally. The company transforms orange, lemon, lime, and grapefruit essential oils into premium ingredients for the fragrance and flavor industries.

Citrus remains one of perfumery's most important olfactive families. Bright, juicy, and fruity notes continue to drive demand across fine fragrance and personal care products.

A strategic lever for rare citrus innovation

Samantha Mane, President of the Mane Group, called the acquisition a strategic lever for innovation in the citrus sector. She stated that combining the two companies' expertise will accelerate the development of high-value citrus ingredients backed by advanced science.

Cvista's strength lies in its control over the entire citrus value chain, from global raw material sourcing to the precise fractionation of aromatic compounds. The company has developed advanced capabilities in purifying trace compounds.

This allows it to isolate and enhance rare molecules like valencene, decanal, and nootkatone. These ingredients are highly prized for the depth, freshness, and sophistication they bring to fragrance compositions. They represent a valuable asset as perfume houses increasingly seek distinctive natural materials.

Florida becomes Mane's new citrus hub

Mane will transform Cvista's Riverview site into a global center of excellence dedicated to citrus. Cvista's teams will join the group, and the R&D facilities, pilot plant, and production capabilities will be maintained and expanded.

The Florida location provides strategic proximity to a key U.S. citrus-growing region. It strengthens Mane's ability to develop next-generation citrus ingredients for both fragrances and beverages.

The new hub will also support Mane's recent partnership with computational biology pioneer Arzeda. This collaboration focuses on the ViaLeaf Reb M sweetener technology for reduced-sugar beverages. Cvista's expertise in natural citrus compounds extends this platform's innovation potential beyond beverages.

Industry context and company scale

The investment reflects a broader industry race to secure advanced citrus capabilities. Demand is growing for natural ingredients and high-precision olfactive fractions. In 2025, competitor International Flavors & Fragrances expanded its footprint through a partnership with Florida Polytechnic University to establish a Citrus Innovation Center in Lakeland, Florida.

Mane is an independent, family-owned company. It now operates 54 R&D centers, 31 production sites, and employs more than 8,500 people across 41 countries.
