Fashion Weeks: Wildsmith Skin won the Sustainability & Purpose award at TheIndustry.beauty Innovators Awards 2026

Wildsmith Skin has been named the winner of the Sustainability & Purpose award at TheIndustry.beauty Innovators Awards 2026. The award was presented by logistics firm Noatum.

CEO Katherine Pye explained that the brand's core values are community, experimentation, efficacy, and responsibility. She stated these principles guide all business decisions. Pye emphasized a "made by many" approach, where every team member contributes to bringing the brand to life.

Connection to Nature and Sustainability

The brand's origin on the Heckfield Estate fundamentally shapes its ethos. Pye said the estate's stewardship principle, leaving the land better than it was found, directly influences the company. She argued that sustainability cannot be separate from product development or customer experiences.

Nature provides both inspiration and ingredients. It also imposes a duty to protect ecosystems and communities.

Embedding Responsibility in the Product Journey

Wildsmith considers responsibility at every stage, from ingredient origin to post-use packaging. The company works with suppliers who share its values, demanding high standards of ethical conduct and environmental responsibility. Formulation teams explore responsibly sourced and upcycled botanicals.

Packaging is a major focus. The brand is adopting Vivomer, a locally made compostable biopolymer. This thinking extends to the customer experience, where product performance and clear information must reflect that efficacy and responsibility go hand in hand.

Current Priorities and Future Vision

Pye outlined Wildsmith's current sustainability priorities. The brand aims to improve the impact of its formulations and packaging. It seeks to strengthen supply chain accountability and measure progress rigorously.

Initiatives include increasing the use of lower-impact and compostable materials. The company is improving its understanding of climate and resource use. It is also formalising policies around human rights and supplier standards.

The brand uses the FuturePlus framework to assess its position and set ambitions. This framework covers climate, environment, social impact, economic responsibility, and diversity and inclusion.

Eva Garcia-Gonzalez, Global Digital Marketing Manager for Wildsmith, commented on the award's significance. She said it acknowledged how responsibility is woven through the entire brand, not just a single initiative. The award recognised team and partner progress while highlighting an ongoing journey.

Innovation and Growth Strategy

Pye described Wildsmith as "restless experimenters." Innovation is central but does not always mean new products. The brand looks for unmet needs and asks how it can respond effectively and responsibly.

This approach has led to investments in new formulations and delivery systems. It has also influenced treatment development, training, packaging, and manufacturing processes.

She cited the Silent Load treatment as an example. Developed for fatigue and persistent tension, the framework helps practitioners adapt bodywork to guest needs. Pye stated this shows innovation can be about intelligent, personalised treatment as much as a new product.

Pye sees future opportunities in consumer demand for performance, evidence, transparency, and responsibility. The challenge is ensuring innovation is meaningful and sustainability claims are backed by measurable progress.

For the future, consumers can expect continued development of science-backed skincare and body care. Wildsmith will extend its use of responsible materials and build new partnerships. Pye concluded that growth must always be thoughtful.

TheIndustry.beauty also interviewed award presenter Noatum. The logistics firm stated it combines sector expertise with an end-to-end approach for beauty brands. It helps balance availability, speed, compliance, sustainability, and cost across global networks.

Noatum connects sourcing, freight, warehousing, customs, and omnichannel fulfilment. It leverages technology for real-time visibility and automated order processing. The firm identified key future trends as demand for faster, flexible, and sustainable fulfilment, greater traceability, AI-led forecasting, and geopolitical volatility.
