Elemis co-founder and CEO Noella Gabriel has revealed the brand's Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm sells one unit globally every 10 seconds. She discussed the product's enduring success in an interview with TheIndustry.beauty following its win of the Product Icon: Skincare award at TheIndustry.beauty Innovators Awards 2026.

Gabriel stated the balm's longevity stems from its consistent delivery of both efficacy and a luxurious experience. The product is clinically proven to strengthen the skin's barrier and provide instant hydration. Its signature blend of nine essential oils, including lavender, chamomile, and eucalyptus, combined with a unique balm-to-oil-to-milk texture, transforms cleansing into a daily ritual.

Balancing Science and Sensation

According to Gabriel, Elemis is guided by a core philosophy of being powered by nature, enhanced by science, and backed by results. The brand, which originated in the spa environment, aims to balance scientific formulations with touch-led techniques and spa-like aromatics in all its skincare routines. Gabriel emphasized that consumers should not have to choose between visible results and an enjoyable experience.

Innovation at Elemis focuses on enhancing beloved products rather than changing them arbitrarily. The company protects the core formula of the cleansing balm while introducing complementary updates, such as new aromatics or formats, that respond to evolving consumer needs. A recent example is the launch of the Pro-Collagen Body Cleansing Balm, extending the product's sensoriality to bodycare.

Recognition and Future Innovation

Winning the Product Icon: Skincare award reflects the trust consumers have placed in the product over many years, Gabriel told TheIndustry.beauty. She said such recognition validates the consistency and commitment behind the brand's offerings. Elemis achieved B Corp certification in 2023, formalizing its commitment to balancing profit with social and environmental considerations.

Looking ahead, Gabriel stated that consumers can expect Elemis to continue building on its established products while bringing meaningful innovation to the category. The brand will keep investing in ingredients and biotechnology, combining nature and science. Gabriel also previewed a specific new launch, stating the brand has an exciting innovation coming very soon which is set to redefine the future of eyecare.

Partner Perspective on Retail Trends

The award was presented by Renude, a strategic partner for beauty brands. A representative from Renude explained that in today's competitive market, having great products is not enough. Modern consumers demand engaging, personalized experiences from brands that understand them.

Renude, developed by specialists in dermatology, formulation, and aesthetics, offers an AI Skin Advisor designed to replicate professional consultations online. The company claims its technology can increase 90-day repeat purchase rates by as much as 74% for brands that implement it. The Renude representative argued that agentic commerce, driven by advanced conversational AI, is shaping the future of beauty retail. They believe brands that fail to adopt such personalized advisory technologies within the next two years risk falling behind.
