E.l.f. Cosmetics has launched its Sheer For It Blush Tints, a new collection of lip and cheek stains priced at $6 each. The product is available in nine shades designed to deliver a sheer, buildable wash of color.

According to the brand, the range includes soft pinks, berry tones, warm browns, and vibrant reds. The formula is described as lightweight and is intended to be layered from a subtle hint to a more saturated flush. Refinery29 editors put the tints to the test.

Editor Reviews

Karina Hoshikawa, a Senior Writer at Refinery29, tested the shades So Petal and Cherry Cola. She reported that the product felt like a true, watery stain but packed an impressive amount of pigment. Hoshikawa noted that one layer provided a kiss of color, while three layers delivered a bold look that still felt lightweight. She said the shades lasted all day through workouts and heat and did not transfer after eating or drinking. "Consider me seriously impressed," Hoshikawa stated.

Beauty Director Jacqueline Kilikita tested the shade Left On Red. She praised the formula's consistency, which she said did not dry too quickly, allowing for easier blending. Kilikita applied the product with a brush over primer and set it with translucent powder. She reported that the tint's staying power was "second to none," clinging to her skin until she removed her makeup .

Performance on Deeper Skin Tones

Shopping Director Alexis Bennett Parker tested the shade Mauve Actually, which appears as a deep onyx hue in the bottle. Parker initially applied the product cautiously, finding it disappeared into her deep skin tone. She then built up the color with multiple layers, achieving a soft, subtle rosiness. Parker noted the formula applied much more sheerly than the bottle color suggested, giving her control over the intensity. She concluded it was a versatile, multi-use product that felt lightweight even when layered.

The editors highlighted the product's quick-drying nature, advising users to blend immediately after application. The tints are designed for use on both cheeks and lips. The following table lists the specific shades tested by the Refinery29 team.

Parker finished her look by tapping the tint onto her lips over a brown lip liner, which she said created a natural rosy flush.
