L’Oréal has launched the Korean skincare brand Dr.G on TikTok Shop in the United States. This marks the brand's first major U.S. retail expansion since L’Oréal acquired it a little over a year ago, in 2024. The launch features seven products priced from $25.99 to $44.99, alongside five TikTok Shop-exclusive bundles.

Product TypePrice Range
Individual Products$25.99 - $44.99
Exclusive Bundles$29.99 - $89.99

The bundles offer savings of up to 63% compared to full retail prices. This digital storefront debut is being supported by a 360-degree U.S. marketing campaign. It includes social content, creator partnerships, out-of-home advertising, influencer activations, and launch events in New York and Los Angeles. The brand is prioritizing social commerce over an immediate brick-and-mortar rollout, having launched on Amazon prior to this TikTok Shop entry.

Dr.G’s Korean dominance and clinical heritage

Dr.G was founded in 2003 by Korean dermatologist Dr. Gun-Young Ahn, who opened his clinic in 1998. The brand was created to deliver clinic-level results at an accessible price point, specifically for sensitive skin. Its products feature ingredients like Centella Asiatica, PDRN, and Black Snail Mucin. According to data from Worldpanel by Numerator covering March 2020 to March 2025, Dr.G is currently the number-one skincare brand in South Korea based on market penetration.

Social commerce drives U.S. expansion

Dr.G's U.S. entry leverages TikTok Shop and Amazon over traditional retail channels. This strategy capitalizes on rising American demand for ingredient-led innovation and high-performance skincare. The move is timely, as skincare was the second-largest category on TikTok Shop from January to June 2026. The broader K-beauty market is also experiencing explosive growth, with global value sales increasing by 53% year over year as of July 2026. During that period, other K-beauty brands like Medicube, Anua, and CosRx generated over $245 million in sales on TikTok Shop alone. Dr.G's assortment on the platform includes products from its R.E.D and Black Snail collections, with bestsellers like the Black Snail Cream priced at $27.

Strategic shift in brand scaling

This launch represents a notable departure from L’Oréal’s traditional brand scaling playbook. That model historically relied on specialty retailers like Sephora and Ulta Beauty, celebrity endorsements, and advertising on Meta and Google platforms. The credibility of TikTok Shop as a beauty retail destination is further solidified by the fact that Sephora and Ulta Beauty have also established a presence on the platform. Dr.G is considered somewhat unusual among TikTok Shop brands due to the ongoing involvement of its founder in product development and clinical planning.

L’Oréal plans to expand Dr.G’s U.S. presence through TikTok Shop, Amazon, and potential future brick-and-mortar stores, with a focus on building brand awareness in the fourth quarter of 2026 and into 2027. Tina Fair, president of L’Oréal’s Consumer Products Division for North America, stated the ambition to bring Dr.G to every K-beauty consumer in America. Founder Dr. Gun-Young Ahn framed the expansion as a connection between Korean dermatological heritage and new consumer shopping behaviors.
