The Ancorotti Group is speeding up the development of its full-service perfume offering. The Italian beauty subcontractor, historically a global leader in mascara production, is now structured around three companies: Ancorotti Cosmetics for makeup, Cosmoproject for skincare, and Ancorotti Perfumes.

Renato Ancorotti, the group's founder and president, stated the company's broad ambition. "We want to be present in all product categories, including by relying on acquisitions if necessary," he explained. The group forecasts total revenue of 250 million euros with nearly 1,000 employees by 2026.

A New Automated Perfume Plant

Industrial operations rely on three production sites in Italy. The historic plant in Crema focuses on makeup, accounting for over 60% of group revenue and exporting 90% of its output. Skincare activity is based in Parma, primarily for the Italian market. The new perfume production unit is also located in Crema, near the makeup factory.

This fully automated fragrance facility required a 23-million-euro investment. It spans 5,000 square meters and has an annual production capacity of 1.5 million liters. The plant handles all stages of perfume production: alcohol blending, maceration, filtration, filling, and packaging. It currently serves clients in Italy and the United States, catering to both niche and large-scale industrial volumes.

Hybrid Textures and Formats

For fragrance creation, Ancorotti Perfumes works with privileged partnerships with various composition houses. These collaborations allow the manufacturer to offer its own juices for turnkey solutions across the entire chain. The group also supplies scented candles through a specialized partner.

The company is highlighting its expertise in hybrid, alcohol-free solutions. It aims to use its makeup background to develop differentiating concepts, particularly in textures and application gestures. Innovations presented at the Esxence trade show included hybrid textures at the boundary between perfume and cosmetics.

Solid Ambitions for Fragrance

While Ancorotti Perfumes still represents a modest share of group sales, its growth is rapid. The division is targeting revenue of 15 million euros by 2026.

"It is still a start-up activity," acknowledged Renato Ancorotti. He believes, however, that the investments in industrial infrastructure and the full-service positioning are strong levers for developing this new venture. The group continues its diversification from its core mascara business, where it packages approximately 150 million units annually.
