Mane acquires Cvista, a U.S.-based manufacturer of citrus essential oil fractions and natural essences. The deal, announced by the French fragrance and flavor group, strengthens Mane's access to advanced fractionation technologies and positions it closer to key American citrus supply basins in Florida.

Founded in 2010 by Hadi Lashkajani, Cvista has established itself as a reference player in transforming orange, lemon, lime, and grapefruit essential oils into high-value natural ingredients for the flavor and fragrance industry. The company currently serves approximately 130 clients worldwide. Citrus notes remain essential in compositions, driven by the enduring popularity of fruity accords.

A lever for innovation in rare molecules

Samantha Mane, President of the Mane Group, stated that the acquisition is a strategic lever for innovation in the citrus domain. She said the combination of expertise will accelerate the development of high-value ingredients based on advanced scientific know-how.

Cvista controls the entire value chain, from global sourcing of raw materials to the fractionation of aromatic compounds. The company possesses cutting-edge skills in purifying trace-level compounds, enabling the isolation and valorization of rare molecules like valencene, decanal, and nootkatone. These molecules are sought after for their ability to add depth, freshness, and sophistication to perfume creations. This is a significant asset as perfume houses increasingly search for more differentiating ingredients.

Florida becomes Mane's new citrus hub

As part of the deal, Mane will transform Cvista's Riverview, Florida site into a global center of excellence dedicated to citrus. Cvista's teams will join the group, while its R&D facilities, pilot units, and production capacities will be retained and developed. This location provides Mane with strategic proximity to American citrus production areas and enhances its capacity to develop new generations of citrus-based ingredients for perfumery and beverages.

Mane also plans to use this new center to leverage its recent partnership with computational biology pioneer Arzeda, notably to produce and commercialize the ViaLeaf Reb M sweetener technology. This move aligns with strong growth in functional and reduced-sugar beverages. Cvista's expertise enriches this approach by providing fine mastery of natural compounds derived from citrus, with applications extending far beyond the beverage market.

Strategic context and industry position

The family-owned and independent Mane Group now operates numerous R&D centers and production sites, employing thousands of people across many countries. The dynamic demand for natural-origin ingredients and high-precision olfactory fractions has reinforced the strategic role of citrus-based transformation and innovation supply chains. Last year, International Flavors and Fragrances (IFF) announced a partnership with Florida Polytechnic University to create a Citrus Innovation Center in Lakeland, Florida.
